Why DO I NEED YOUR HELP?

LIKE ANY JOB, CREATING ART TAKES A LOT OF TIME, DEDICATION, AND THE FUNDING TO GET IT PRODUCED. YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP OFFSET THE HOURS I HAVE TO TAKE AWAY FROM MY DAY JOB TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT. PASSION ALONE WON'T PAY MY BILLS.

The artwork and content for E is for Endangered will require approximately 1200 hours to create. Assuming a solid 40 hours per week, this commitment translates to over seven months of heads-down work. For comparison, the letter "A" (shown on homepage) required 63 hours to complete — including research, concept, layout, drawing, finished linework, writing, editing, and design.

My baseline time and effort costs to complete this project will amount to approximately $30,000. Every dollar of support will help me finish this project. Which begs the question ...

How long will it take to complete E is for Endangered?

Taking seven months off, without income, to focus exclusively on this book is simply not an option. As much as I'd like to set a firm deadline, paying for the roof over my head and fuel for my belly is a reality I can't ignore. The book will get done. But I won't speculate when that may be. I'll have a better idea after I knock off 700 or so hours. However, you will be able to follow along with progress and watch the artwork unfold simply by visiting this site every now and again.

I loathe asking for help.

But the simple reality is, I am not a celebrity. My personal reach doesn't extend much further than my outstretched arms. If you see value in this project, please take a few seconds to "like", share, or Tweet E is for Endangered using the buttons below.

WHO AM I?

Hi, my name is Paul Burton. I'm an illustrator, design director, and a self-published author afflicted with potentially unreasonable goals that are bolstered by an insatiably curious nature and a passionate desire to support efforts to protect what's left of the glorious life on this planet that isn't human.

E is for Endangered is the culmination of a career-long dream to take a chance and do something worthwhile with the artistic talents my grandfather passed along to me.
